Time to start growing own sunflower is long overdue. Seems like South Asia will soon stop exporting their palm crude to Africa.

If you measure cooking oil with a tablespoon it will go a long way. I can’t even remember the last time I bought cooking oil. Anyway, cooking oil is what makes people fat so it will be good if we stop using it in the longterm.

Why didn’t our forefathers suffer frequent heartbreaks yet they ate animal based fat. My grandapa used to store meat in a pot for upto to 3 months.

[li]Chop up fatty meats[/li][li]Heat them in a pot or big saucepan to extract oil[/li][li]Boil or dry fry meat to be preserved[/li][li]Take the hot oil and put it in pot[/li][li]Dip the boiled or dry fried chunks in the hot oil and let it cool, the meats sink to the bottom.[/li][li]This mix can last for 3 months[/li][/ol]
In Greek it’s called Rukùrī
Three litre cooking oil ni 1000 now, but Mimi hununua Burma mafuta ya ngombe na life goes on
People complain about cooking with animal fats and then weekend wanakula nyama choma that is dripping with fat, infact the 1kg nyama they so voraciously enjoy could be 1/4 kg fat. So using 1 kijiko of animal fat to cook your sukuma won’t harm anyone.
I believe all countries should be self sufficient kwa basics such as cooking oil, clothes, unga, milk, meat etc. Does it mean Kenyans never used to cook with oil before Malaysia started exporting palm oil in 1995?
Another issue is animal feeds. Our farmers should be able to rear poultry, pigs etc using locally available materials without imports. Poutry, pig, dairy Farmers in cointries such as the US Canada etc actually grow all inputs eg corn, soya, sunflower, silage hay etc in their farms and harvest and mix to feed their animals. But Kenyan farmers and feed makers have to import maize, soya, cotton seed etc from
Mexico, US etc to make animal feeds making the cost of inputs very expensive.
Kimbo and Elianto ni za Upperclass. Akina Freshfry, Pika etc ndio za commoners na bei saa hii ni huko 360/ltr
Saa hii 10 liter equates to Ksh3100, =310 per liter bulk. Retail ni 350 to 360. Tutamea akili
Watu watumie animal fats. Kama hawaezi wakae hivo…
