Why is Mark X second hand so cheap? Nimeskia tu some arguments that inakunywa mafuta but I don’t think that argument can hold since haina difference na most cars on Kenyan roads. What’s the catch?
Sure sai model ya 2013 unapata na 1.2m…a KDB…
Alafu pia tuambiwe kati ya [COLOR=rgb(226, 80, 65)]Mark X na [COLOR=rgb(226, 80, 65)]Mazda Atenza, which one carries the day.
@Teddy_time saidia elders. I have always wondered about the same thing as well.
Atenza Hybrid nmeona goes for 1.3. Na consumption rate ni at least 30km/l.
its not about fuel. the car has nothing that stands out.
Inachapwa manyahunyo na German machines, middle class can’t imagine driving anything above 1800 cc from Japan

The popularity of Crown was a market shift. Guys who would buy MarkX now buy Crown
Mark X looks nice on the outside and it is incredibly fun to drive. You can even turn some heads with Uni bimbos who think it is a sports car. Once you drive it for a while, you realize that it has some weaknesses. How? It has low ground clearance and bad fuel economy. At some point you will either have to buy a crossover with a similar fuel economy to eliminate the problem of ground clearance, or buy a normal sedan like a premio and eliminate the problem of fuel economy.
True. It doesn’t deliver what it’s looks promise. That’s why it’s market shifted to Crown. Despite the ground clearance issues, Crown delivers a punch to compensate
I don’t think Crown is superior in terms of power or speed. The difference is negligible. I think the real difference is the looks because the crown is more sleek. So, if they have the same fuel economy, most people will prefer the crown for the added advantage of better looks.
Mark X is costly to maintain reason being it runs on a V6 engine meaning its thirsty. General service is also on the higher side for such a big engine. Remember we use six spark plugs. And the biggest mark X banter is “kukwama kwa nyasi” reason being it is a horrible rear wheel drive.
My personal taste is for a rear-wheel drive V6 powerplant.
I would go with the Mark x. But, a high spec one.
Base mark x are very bland on the interior. I have seen a very basic one which essentially was just a V6 base model corolla… very bland interior. And i saw a sweet one fully equipt with infotainment, leather interior and it even had TEMS which is a suspension system that allows you to switch between a sporty suspension (hard) and a wafty, soft suspension which gives you a soft ride especially on potholed roads.
But, its up to the individual. If fuel economy is an issue, then go with the 4 cylinder front wheel drive atenza
Btw v6 second hand cars tend to be cheap in kenya coz very few people would consider purchasing them.
Crown is a better, higher end car
Kuna ya 1.3 kweli,
Sai naona cheapest zinachezea 1.6, with most tending towards 2m.
2019 ndo nilikua naona za hapo 1.3. Au mimi sijui kuzuru soko vizuri?
I’m interested in the overall maintenance and cost of spares btn io [COLOR=rgb(226, 80, 65)]Mark X and [COLOR=rgb(226, 80, 65)]Mazda Antenza

Is fuel costs such an issue on the Mark X?
Look up Facebook Market you’ll sure as hell find several
If you are doing the 9 - 5 monday to friday grind of driving the mark x during rush hour bumber-to-bumper traffic, then definitely fuel cost is an issue.
But, if you work mostly from home and you are using it mostly for long distance travel or the occasional grocery shopping near home, fuel haitakusumbua sana.
