Kenyan Graduates are so disappointing.

Recently took a young man under my wings. What I can attest to,is that,Kenyan Universities are producing half baked graduates. Even basic computer skills are so wanting in our graduates. To say I am disappointed is an understatement. We need more investments in the education sector, especially when it comes to technology.

shida sio graduates, shida ni culture yetu kama wakenya ya kutojali, kutowajibika, hatushughliki na zile vitu important. ni society yote iko ivo.

It does not matter how much cash is funneled into a cesspit with zero standards and quality of the product. Kenyan education shytstem was designed to produce clerks. What you see now is an enhanced ‘mordernised’ version, that is why my 8th grader has an assignemnt on research and hypothesis and my Kenyan grad hadly knows how to execute and implement.
So again, my take is this is a policy but also a philosofical issue. When you have a population which does not have a clue exactly how many of their own sacrificed their lives and died during mau mau, such a population has zero self worth and you should not be shocked why kamau, or Wasike joins the al kebab in baidoa.
Hii elimu ni kifunga macho

Huyo alisomea chuo kikuu kipi?

I bet you also learnt much on the job,its payback time, pass the knowledge to that newbie

Not really.
Kenyan graduates are very much okay. What they just need is a little time to blend in with job market(new environment). Just show them the way, and before you know it they shall fly on their own.

We all go through this newbie stage bwana

Old heads complaining about newbies is a tradition as old as time. When you entered the workplace some fossil must have been complaining about you as well.

exactly…he might have been worst when he was a newbie

no person amekuwa University minimum 2 years should be basic technology illiterate

Stupidity is using that single young man you took to pass summary judgement on ALL .ke graduates.

Next…

Na si mmecomplain sana kutuhusu,

We’re fast learners, we just need to see it once ata kama ni youtube

Iyo wacha tuiache kwa sasa

Wewe uko na shida. The real truth is majority of Kenyan graduates are incompetent…I have mentored a considerable number to come to such a conclusion, this is not an isolated case!

People learn on the job. Do not pretend you knew everything in your line of work from the first day you started working. Give the graduate some time and show him how things are done kwa upole.

si when they were in skul you told em to shut up and tick boxes (exams) unashtuka nini sai, what did you expect?

Tunawaelewa ni hako ka mzee kako melodramatic

Kiaje sasa?

ulijua kutumia ms excel ukiwa miaka ngapi?

Mimi sijakataa I also learnt the hard way. What I am saying is so obvious but unajifanya hauelewi. In this age and time you expect a graduate to have basic skills like computer packages. Ni sawa if you want to interpret my message your own way.
