How people live without Christ is a mystery to me .
It’s because the penance for sin is death. The Bible says, “the soul that sins must die.” When Eve sinned, she brought death into the world so only by the shedding of innocent blood can man get back to the perfect state like it was in Eden. Abel knew this because he was the son of Adam, but not Cain. Cain did not have this crucial revelation which is why he brought before God a sacrifice of fruits and vegetables (and thus was rejected by God).
@Stormtrooper98 if you are a child of God, like Abel, He will reveal to you these secrets of sin/redemption/reconciliation; but if you are a type of Cain, then these mysteries will escape you and you find yourself bringing repugnant vegetables to God. The only thing which can appease God is the shed blood of Jesus Christ so that’s what we need to cover ourselves with.
