…which other cars are compatible with the probox engine; the 1NZ-FE. eg can a 504 be fitted with the engine…can a datsun 120y be fitted with engine. i would like to do a restoration and fit this engine…its very easy to handle yet it never ceases to amaze on power and consumption. Good question.
The beauty of rear wheel drive cars is that any engine that can fit in the engine bay will do, as long as you have done a little research about horsepower, torque and gear ratios. All you need to do is make a few mods to the bell housing and the length of the propeller shaft.
I am running a Nissan Skyline 2.6 twin turbo in a 1978 Mazda RX7.
For your 504 if you can get a rear wheel drive Nissan SR20 engine complete with gear box you will be more than sorted. Better fuel, power and consumption.
Knowing what I know, hakuna kile huwezi fanya bora upate makanika anajua kile anafanya. I’ve seen many engine swaps but the one that impressed me most was that of a Toyota Hiace 2KD model running on Mitsubishi 4M41 engine.
for the 504 its best you use the rear wheel drive Toyota Mark X engine 4GR-FSE complete with its gear box
the 2.5 litre V6 engine develops 200 brake horse power @6400rpm with a torque of 179ft.lb @4800rpm
it will make your 504 sore like an eagle with far belter fuel efficiency as compared to the original carbureted engine
Probox again…now last Friday I was seated at the garage. Some guy came and had engine issues with a probox. Total repair bill 25K. Now at this point something happened. He asked long it will take to repair…1 day was the answer. Juu watafungua io engine na wafungue ile mpya iko Kwa store wabadilishe spare parts. Having listened to the convo for a while I asked the mechanic unknowingly-how much is a new probox engine? Haiya ngiri thate…I repeat 30K for an imported engine but 25K to repair.
He produced cash and within 1 hr he had left with the new engine installed.
