Christianity has all the hallmarks of emotional abuse. These are:
Destruction of self-worth. From day one you are quickly taught that you are a sinner who needs to be saved. You are born in sin and inherently bad. You are weak and you are nothing without God. You had a huge debt that Jesus was kind enough to pay for you. Concepts that applied in real life would turn you into a doormat such as being meek and submissive are encouraged.
Constant use of threats. You are always reminded of a looming judgement day/rapture/end of times/apocalypse/eternal torment for those who refuse to toe the line.
Unquestioning obedience. When you attempt to question things that don’t make sense, you are urged to stop asking and are quickly reminded you are incapable of understanding God’s ways. Independent thinking is discouraged and branded “dangerous pride”.
Existence of a bogeyman to be protected from. You must always pray to be kept safe from unseen forces and the evil plans of Satan who is always scheming on how to bring you down. Christianity is careful though, to assign Satan with enough power to be a menace but not really enough to challenge God’s status.
I don’t agree with most of what you have said, but on this story of meekness, ati once you become a Christian, you are supposed to change and be extra humble. This is called fake humility. Let me tell you that this is the biggest hogwash being practiced ignorantly by followers of Christ. Because when you look at His character, He was a very stern and firm man.
He flipped over tables akaharibu biashara ya watu in a temple and He wasn’t roughed up (you try do that yourself and see what happens), he cursed a fig tree for bearing no fruit, He told off Satan in the desert, He told His own mother this -“Dear woman, that’s not our problem, my time has not yet come.” John 2:4
It all goes down to Hollywood’s agenda, painting the wrong portrait of Christ as this meek, humble guy, just to blaspheme Him and people, just like sheep follow what they see. I’m telling you people will be surprised at the day of His return.
Exodus 15:3. The Lord is a warrior; The Lord is His name.
Let me say as a Christian most of what @Stormtrooper98 you say is true , sometimes you wonder do people leave their brains at the entrance of churches , because we have been abused by the so called men of God , and because we imagine they have a monopoly of truth we don’t question , Now that’s wrong scriptures’ talk of the Bereans . These people always checked what Paul taught them . but because the the Men of God we have need a desperate person so they can take advantage off they will never teach you how to stand on your two feet. Mahatma Gandhi says i like the Christ of the bible , but not the the Christ of the Christians . tafakari hayo.
If we can fight back as Jehovah fought his enemies and greatest bloodbaths then Christianity is a welcome, but if am roughed up and am saved am to keep quiet and cry like kalonzo then am not there’s
God is a man. There was drama between Jesus and the Pharisees. Jesus was not soft, you were created a man for a reason. Now carry your cross and follow Him like the man you are. He is the truth
Luna mwingine aliulizwa kwa TV kama umeshatoa fungi LA kumi out of your salary then midmonth upate an unexpected windfall, do you still pay tithe on it. Akasema people should stop robbing God. Walipe 10% on everything.
I once worked in a microfinance after high school before joining college. We would give out small loans of up to 50k to peasants. It was alarming the rate at which most of those loans would end up in the pockets of unscrupulous “men of God”. The sheep would leave our offices straight to church to give thanks to God for receiving loans. Needless to say, the rates of default were damn too high.
