What do you think could have caused this fire? My opinion is that leaking fuel pumps scraped something and caught fire. mercedes have external fuel pumps, sometimes two of them, known for frequent failure and leakage. Is mercedes unable to make an internal fuel pump like toyota does or whats the catch? The pumps hang down there like testicles and are prone being hit or even scraping on uneven ground given how low german cars usually are. people are suggesting after market sound system but I doubt it. the fire started from outside and sound system wiring for such a car has to be on the inside.

Mine caught fire as well in the engine in 2018, hapo Makaburini near Nyayo Stadium while on my way home from the garage.
And I didnt have a fire extinguisher. Motorists were just driving past.
Help came from 3 passerby’s who ironically were mechanics walking home. They threw handfuls of dust and managed to contain it. Gave them some cash and a lift home.
Apparently, a piece of paper got caught up somewhere in the engine while being serviced, so while driving home, the heat from the engine ignited it and started burning plastic components then spread up.

Hapo thika road just before safari park iv seen pictures of more than 3 cars now burning over the years in the same spot. It cant be a coincidence.
