The people who understand technology will tell you that Windows 11 is not widely available in it’s current form. Even on desktops, 80% of computers use Windows 10. A quick summary is in order.
I have been wondering why Microsoft came up with strict hardware requirements for Windows 11 and I came to find out from an article that its because Microsoft partners regularly with tech giants like Dell, HP, Lenovo and Intel and so forcing users to get new computers will significantly boost sales and increase revenue for the companies, a very selfish move. If windows wanted they could make windows 11 work on older devices flawlessly. At home we have a Toshiba laptop that was bought back in 2012/13 hapo and it came with Windows 7. We later upgraded it to Windows 8 and in 2016 upgraded it to Windows 10 and has been working very well ever since. That decision to end support for Windows 10 in October 14 will lead to 300 million computers become obsolete some of which are working perfectly fine only lacking in hardware. Fuck Microsoft. Possible solution is Linux or getting a 3rd party antivirus to help your laptop from malware.
Welcome to Adulthood.
Wont become obsolete. A lot of aftermarket support exists. For what it’s worth windows XP still is used by quite some tech geeks
Hiyo ni hekaya, there was a major security exploit in CPU architecture, around 2018 if I’m correct, ilikuwa inaitwa meltdown and spectre, in short programs could read execution data straight from the CPU. Microsoft blames the CPU manufacturers a patch was rolled out and I’m certain it dented the performance of several computers.
Also Microsoft doesn’t want to support every framework out there, so they went with a standardised approach and basically said fuck the rest.
Wow, I didn’t know it was such a big deal. I thought they were just separating markets between the haves and have-nots.
From what I understood CPU manufacturers optimised CPU’S to be faster through speculative execution, ni kama reading data before it arrived…
Common example used ni ukienda kwa library to get a book and as soon as umeselect the book you want, program imeshaload your book behind the scenes before any access is granted through password authorisation.
So watu walianza kupiga exploit using that path, to access information that should never be revealed to programs by the CPU…, that was patched, but also explains the performance hit several machines took.
So story ya Microsoft forcing people to buy new computers in order to boost sales for the tech companies ni hekaya?
Now I know.
