Both Nations got independence around the same time …
But we had several advantages …
Africa’s stagnation is due to a myriad of issues mostly revolving around their mindsets towards the same. An example among many others is being unable to plan and follow up through unless it’s short term like a one day plan. Planning and following through beyond the next food harvest is beyond them.
Africa’s main problem is it’s piss-poor , criminal "leadership".
What we lack are Nationalist , Visionary Servant Leaders of Integrity who follow and obey established Laws and Ordinances.
Not because they do not exist.
But because of decades of the weaponized poverty , ignorance and criminal manipulation of the electorate to maintain the backward status quo.
Established Despots , Tyrants, their cronies and empowerment structures will never allow the necessary change leadership or ideas any breathing space because it endangers the Status Quo and must be resisted by all means.
Thus we end up with our own leadership assuming the same role as the colonialists who were formally in power and control over us.
It pains and depressed me every time I witness Africans Oppressing , Marginalizing and Killing other Africans for whatever reasons.
It should never happen.
There are plenty of good Men and Women on this continent ready and willing to be Good Servant Leaders of Integrity.
The challenge is established criminal regimes will not allow fair competition at the Ballot Box.
So..
Sadly..
The only way to effect meaningful change is often Revolution and Forceful removal of these entrenched misfits.
And once the misfits are removed , ironclad , Constitutional guardrails and people driven enforcement provisions must be hardwired into all aspects of National life.
You come in , do your 1x5 Year Accountable Term and get out.
You are delivering a Public Service - not creating a "dynasty".
(.. 1% of our current population is 550K individuals - more than an adequate pool from which to recruit suitable candidates..).
This is not rocket science..!!
The question should be why did Kenya proper than uganda, tanzania, somalia, sudan, malawi etc and yet they got independence at the same time? The reason is that Jomo Kenyatta provided very good leadership that made kenya prosperous while those other countries collapsed.
Singapore cant be compared to kenya because singapore is basically a port city the size of mombasa and gets most of its income from its port and banking (secrets accounts of stolen funds from other countries).
Also singapore is basically a chinese overseas territory occupied and governed by chinese people so the link to china helps their economy making singapore an important transit hub of goods exported from china to the outside world.
Lest we forget ..
The people promising to make Kenya a first world country, killed Kenyans for demanding a better country..!!
