Many politicians are talking about giving funds to start businesses. We cannot be a country of only business people. A large portion of population need to be carrying lunch box to work. But because they know it’s not possible because of their bad policies. Many want to empower women to be mama mbogas . Yaani they don’t want people to open bucheries, they want to be vegetarians.
Fixed. You can’t skip manufacturing phase alafu ukimbie kuenda service industry phase.
They know they can’t implement manufacturing phase so they want the easier part.
To add even more truth, si kwa ubaya but most people do not have what it takes to run a business anyway. When you are used to the security of a paycheck, the uncertainty of business can quickly knock the breath out of your lungs. you can imagine an independent farmer who has tended to his produce for however many months and has transported it out of pocket all the way to France and is awaiting answers as to whether it has passed the stringent EU standards. My friend, when that phone of yours rings you can die of heart attack.
Farming huwa inataka gava ikushike mkono juu ukiifanya alone unaweza kuwa stressed vibaya. But I would love to do Farming on a large scale one day though.
Sneaky bastards, they should be beaten on site.
Switzerland GDP per capita = $86,601 (5th richest on earth)
Population = About 8.8 million people (about 7.2 million are over 18)
348,000 people in Switzerland work for Glencore, Norvatis, or ABB
4.8% of the Swiss population works for 3 corporations!! When you account for retirees, the percentage moves up beyond 5%.
Yani 1 in every 20 Swiss adults works for those 3 corporations.
In the USA, 2.3 million people work at Walmart and another 1.6 million at Amazon.
The key to development is having large corporations to employ many Kenyans because in truth, most people are not wired to be entrepreneurs and there is nothing wrong with that.
I have realized that in developed nations, a larger proportion of adults work at large corporations.
But frustrating companies like Keroche, Kenya cannot achieve that.
Equity bank has almost 10,000 employees. Imagine having 300 companies like that. 10% of all Kenyan adults would be working at a multinational. Kenya has about 30 million adults.
Not just working, but they have to be able to earn a decent, livable wage. Hapana hand to mouth.
Hata kama ni hand to mouth…
Let people be busy… Let people be industrious…
Or let people work in shifts for less hours… Like 5 hours a day… Kama kule younaires states of terror
This is the most insidious rhetoric because of the lie that you can be a mama mboga or SME in an undifferentiated market and expect to stay afloat in this liquidity constrainted environment. It’s even worse if you are doing business with self enrichment as your only goal not creating value.
Either you have the stamina and speed to build a large business that creates value and is export oriented from the jump to mitigate the weak purchasing power locally or it will be death by a 1000 cuts.
Government should create conducive environment for creation of large scale manufacturing industries. This is the only way to enhance local production and create endless employment opportunities.
