Raila is tolerated in many parts of Nyanza, but viewed with both suspicion and resentment. Suspicion because he is seen by many to be focused on amassing personal wealth rather than help his core base. This suspicion is based on the view that he is mkono gamu, with little to no evidence of direct involvement in any meaningful project in Nyanza.
Resentment against Raila extends beyond Luo Nyanza, and is the aspect that could derail his bid. Many view his 6 piece strategy as dictatorial and counter to his attempt to be a statesman. Raila has lost massive support in Nyanza, the Coast and western because of this issue. This loss may not be countered by the 10 to 20 percent net gain in Central through his choice of MK as running mate.
Even though he has state support, even deep state is aware of the volatile and highly forceful character of Ruto. To the point that if Raila is not seen to be pulling his weight much above a certain critical mass, the state might get cold feet about any rigging in his favor for fear of stoking massive unrest in his strong holds
The third thing going against Raila might be a small issue if it was not so obvious. This is the issue of Raila’s advanced age, which he repeatedly reminds people of, by falling asleep at public events
Ruto’s temper and corruption might have worked against him if he was up against a stronger candidate. But against Raila, many would rather tolerate an awake president in charge of issues than a man that might well rely on his handlers for critical decisions. Unlike in the US which has some strong institutional brakes against executive excesses, the presidency in Kenya is all powerful and less answerable to institutional oversight. In the hands of political advisors of the caliber of Babu Owino, a less than hawk eyed president could easily make questionable decisions

Just counter with your “smart” analysis. In a political contest, one must analyze the pros and cons of either candidate. You cannot just call others trash, because this wont help your guy.
The problem with many Raila supporters is exactly this. You refuse to acknowledge weaknesses that might work against your guy. Issues that if addressed soon and well might actually bolster his campaign
There is no logical argument with UDA sheep. Even if I provide alternate facts somehow you will brush it off. For instance for your argument I will tell you that it is not in Raila’s place to give handouts, it is his responsibility to make legit policies but then you will brush it off
You see, you have done exactly what ypu Rao fanatics do and accuse others of doing, Instead of denying that Raila is mkono gamu, you state that Raila should not give handouts. The political situation in Kenya is handouts drive. You cannot impact the masses if you keep your money in the crack of yo arze
Mikel. Give me examples of just one. Don’t just give up my friend
