It’s Ramses II (Ramses The Great).
Read the adult’s bible. Not the Sunday school bible.
- Genesis 47:11 – When Joseph settles his family in Egypt, the verse says:
“So Joseph settled his father and his brothers in Egypt and gave them property in the best part of the land, the district of Rameses, as Pharaoh directed.”
This refers to the region (or city) of Rameses in the Nile Delta, not the pharaoh himself.
- Exodus 1:11 – When the Israelites are enslaved:
“So they put slave masters over them to oppress them with forced labor, and they built Pithom and Rameses as store cities for Pharaoh.”
Again, this is the name of a construction site or city, not a person.
- Numbers 33:3, 33:5 – In the itinerary of the Exodus:
“The Israelites set out from Rameses on the fifteenth day of the first month…”
Still the same city name.
