This man was very right! Africans, we have a big problem when it comes to governance. Just imagine that the GDP of California last year was about twice as large as the entire GDP of the African continent.

How can the GDP of a single U.S. state be larger than the combined GDP of the entire continent of Africa? Could it be true that we don’t have the brains and mental capacity to govern?

Democracy fails to work in Africa because before gaining independence, the African was not first weaned of personal greed and selfish character. Kings and chiefs used to get the people prostrating themselves like slaves before them. After independence, African presidents assumed they were monarchs and took power thinking the nations were personal property. The notion of being employed by the people to serve them hasn’t sunk in: they still think they should be ruling, rather than governing, and this is why they have a problem with being counselled. When they are told what the constitutions of their countries require of them, they imagine they are being disempowered; when they are asked to be just, they think they are being ridiculed and unfairly criticised; when they are asked to leave office for someone more in touch with the realities of governing a republic, they think they are being denied their birthright–and resort to violence, using police and military forces–and so does a vast majority of those who choose these kinds of people to lead them. It’s an ideological crisis, and Africa needs very, very serious educating.

Compared to other forms of government, democracy is the least bad system of governance.

However, the problem is not the form of government; our biggest problem is mental (mindset), and I agree with you that Africa needs very serious education.

These are consequences of the FALL. For some reason, Black people are more afflicted in resource mismanagement, because something in their genetic makeup combined with the fallout from Eden made them that way.
