Clearing of site
2.setting out
3.excavation of trenches and and column bases.( depth of foundation is determined on site.
N.B kama ni cotton iko kwa site toa yote.
Strip footing… ( use spacers)
Foundation walling / casting of columns ( confirm levels before you continue)
Backfilling with murram or red soil… make sure you properly compact/consolidate it in manageable layers.
150mm layer of hard-core compacted to approval.( hire a compactor)
Na si utafute tu qualified architect juu hio project ni project kubwa. I imagine labda utakuwa ukikanyaga hio slab na lorry ama forklift on a regular basis.
Jamaa anataka jua jinsi ya kukoroga iyo slab in detail I guess.
For manufacturing purposes I think BRC Ref. A142 mesh, double reinforced, with 1m overlaps in all edges and in class 20 or 25 concrete (depending on weight of the products and machinery) will do,and with construction joints not exceeding 5m spacing.
Floor finish: 100 or 150 mm granolithic (granular) screed. In simpler terms, graded vumbi 3-10, in a rich cement sand mix, steel floated and well cured for 2 to 3 wks.
You can leave there ama kama una pesa ongeza a 5mm layer of epoxy floor finish with 4m jointing and sealant and you’ll never have a single crack on it ata ikiangukiwa na machine zote pamoja hehee.
Alafu ununulie msito balozi mbili ivi juu ya hiyo infomeshen
The slab has to sit on a proper base otherwise io ingine itakua kazi bure… The info you have provided is also correct but you will rarely see anyone doing it… most guys ensure the base is good wanakoroga na inapigwa Nero ama terrazzo.
Oh I see. I went for the slab detail thinking he has everything else considered and is now worried about casting the concrete and yes, he is well sorted with the two replies.
Yes for every 4-5m, a joint and never at the walled edges.
Compaction ya power pia muhimu sana on the appropriate backfilling material due to the expected heavy loads and machine vibrations.
Yep, kama ni redsoil tumia the consolidation method( unavailable maji alafu unwatchable raia inaingia uko na vijiti kudunga dunga…mahali kunataka extra soil unaongeza and you repeat the process unit the whole area is level .
@Randy can i use paving blocks (those precast flat slabs they use for pavements) on black cotton soil (Katani) for a site office/ storage/ residence made of a steel frame and mabatis?
As we speak kuna job nimeitiwa… cotton soil has wrecked havoc on a 4bdr bungalow somewhere in kiamumbi. Tiles kwa sitting room, dinning and kitchen zimekatika, cracks kwa ukuta and the two main doors hazifungiki… currently trying to find a solution but naona hii ni kama imenda…
The other option ni uinue nyumba na column na ufunge slab na chuma.
Btw @Randy just a quick one. Kuna a 3 bedroom bungalow somewhere in Muchatha fundi alifunga lintel kwa the 8th course. Keja imewekwa roof tayari but ceiling iko chini sana alaf the standard doors hazitoshei height wise. Kwa kifupi is there a way to right this, ama itabidi the entire roof ishuke alaf lintel ipandishwe courses kathaa juu
Waah! Io ni tricky … ideally the floor to ceiling height is 2700 - 3000mm and door opening is 2100 - 2400mm. What is floor to ceiling height and door opening.?
