The families of Sirisia MP John Waluke and his co-convict Grace Wakhungu are racing against time to secure freedom of the duo. It has, however, emerged that Wakhungu may escape the 69 years jail term the anti-corruption court slapped her with after her relatives and friends raised KSh 800 million. The court had fined Wakhungu KSh 707,725,562.
On the other hand, Waluke who was handed 67 years in jail or pay KSh 727,725,562 has not been so lucky as his friends and family have only managed to raise KSh 250 million. His legal team claimed that their efforts to raise money have been hampered by the EACC which threatened to investigate the source of funds raised towards his fine. The duo was convicted after the court found them guilty of defrauding the National Cereal and Produce Board (NCPB) KSh 297 million in 2009.
How sure are we that treasury will get that money? Somebody at treasury can say the money was remitted while it was never remitted.
Eurobond 1 and 2 money tuliambiwa na Henry Rotich that it was mixed with the other funds and that is why it could not be accounted for. We suspect that it was stolen to repay campaign money used for 2013 elections.
They play these games and many Kenyans believe them
This is as it should be.
Wakhungu steals, the whole family feels the sting. Family will start discouraging the “Hard work” that their kin put in when employed by government.
Walukhe seems like will serve the full sentence.
