In 2002, the anti-Moi sentiments reached a fever pitch. In came Kibaki and Moi retired. Then, Moi chose to remain silent in retirement. Until the same Kenyans started to say they missed Moi and he wasn’t a bad guy after all. 11 years later, they were cheering his name in public meetings unlike the jeering he received when he was elected.
This time round, the anti-Uhuru sentiment among the mountaineers has peaked. There’s a feeling that voting for Ruto will somehow teach Uhuru a lesson. Should Ruto win, Uhuru will receive a jeering of his lifetime during the handover. But Uhuru will not be on the ballot. He’ll retire and he may choose to remain silent. So, whether Ruto wins now or not, Kenyans will one day crave for Uhuru. Then they’ll say he was not a bad guy after all.
Kiuks hated kibaki by the time he was leaving office
I remember after leaving a TNA/URP bash, some kikuyu guys (who thought I was a luo) started mocking me … telling me how uhuru sio kibaki na atafinya raila makei akileta mchezo.
They were all in agreement that kibaki was a failure,I remember the newly elected kimani ichungwa telling me to watch as uhuru starts his transformative agenda that will prove kibaki was a failure
He is kuzimia chairman, n not retiring like moi.
We can’t miss him, gas inapanda na over 500, n petrol by 10/-, moi hangekubali such oppression of common mwanainchi.
Konyagi says he thought bread costs 500/-…
Are you talking about the same moi who in 1990s bread shot from 5bob to 40 bob? And the dollar shot from 30 bob to 90 bob overnight. Also bank interest rates jumped from 30% to 84%?
Meanwhile Uhuru has maintained bread prices at 50 bob for 10yrs despite the inflation. Also he brought down interests rates from 24% in 2013 to 14% today.
