Its the fish they were after. Nothing fun about being on a boat in the middle of the lake in the middle of the night when it’s pitch black. It is only fun on a big boat well lit and don’t go deep to sea. Anything else is just a bad idea. The waters gets pretty choppy at night.
Kenyans, Kenyans. When will people learn to take their lives seriously! Another tragic story of an overloaded boat, and not enough life jackets. Why? O why?
According to luo fisherman superstitions, the night a soul is lost at the fishing site, the catch is abnormally high. Many times over. So if u happen to have sailed with fishermen for fun, they may trick you into drowning. Get that from me

Some of the things we hear about our country sound like fairy tales, yet I know the stories people whisper about don’t come from thin air. Surely folly, witchcraft and ignorance keep destroying the African.

A Luo guy once told me in confidence that he suspected his dad of sacrificing his sisters to help him prosper whenever he acquired a new boat. All his 7 sisters died mysterious by age 10. Unfortunately the trend moved to his siblings all their daughters die by age 5. If they get daughters they know they won’t make it. His dad died a long time ago. They are from Mbita. He told me that the sacrifices prefer the gender which is less, like if you have only one boy or one girl and the rest are of the opposite gender.
They were there for a crusade. Then decided on the final day to do a boat ride then travel home. That’s how they ended dead.
