A buddy of mine rents out a place (ok ni sisi chama, tuache hii friends manenos). The rent was paid on time for the first year alafu jamaa akaanza kutolipa. We sent him a rent demand towards the end of last year na hakulipa.
Now the guy has vacated the premises and moved his stuff out without notice, we thought he wanted more time to pay his rent. He still owes us and didn’t bother to clear with us. He just ignores our calls. We have tried alternative dispute resolution mechanisms whose decisions he ignores.
Would it be fair invite an auctioneer on this guys life? Kwa nini huyu jamaa anaona sisi waosha wazee ni wajinga? We never get forgiven any rent hapa.
I think you should go legal. The least he could have done is communicate and request for extra time to pay. Don’t even feel bad about it coz it sounds like you’re kinda struggling with the decision.
When you are of my age, you will feel sorry for a young man whose assets are about to get obliterated. You feel sorry for these young people who think they can run away with other peoples debt without paying. All the same, I have decided to let the dogs out.
Best arrangements would be those in which you deposit caution money. You want to move out you collect caution money. You refuse to pay rent you get thrown out and forfeit the caution money bila ifs, buts ama maybes.
those agents are just the worst, anangoja you delay with just one day and you cannot breathe. I know of certain agents who insist on a bank slip, with all these alternative payments na bado wanataka mtu akapige line kwa bank?
These wazee wazees landlords ya miaka 70 apan tambua bank agent…wanakuanga sumbua sana…i had one who lazima aone ile pink slip ya KCB na stamp ya teller…one time i queued KCB…they tried directing me to the agents in the bank nkawambia zii…mzae amesema anataka kuona slip ya pink…
I was served. When i got back to the house i had to literally school the caretaker that iyo pesa inaingianga kwa account moja whether ni agent ama bank yenyewe…:D:D:D:D
Anyway they took my lessons na wakaelewa
Do you have a written rental agreement on what is supposed to happen if he does not pay. For a rental house, the most you can do to someone who does not pay rent is to give them a notice and have them vacate. Legally, once they vacate, you cannot recover the rent. That is why you can legally ask for deposit of up to 6 months. When the person refuses to pay for two months, unapea notice the third month anatoka the sixth month. Huwezi auction mtu juu ya rent
Okay, the solution ni kwenda kwa koti au kwa hiyo tirbunal. But kama msee hamna agreement ni upuzi. Lazima asign agreement bana huwezi pea msee nyumba ovyo tu
