Well, buses make sense in TZ because of the land tenure system, and the even population density. In Kenya, most people are stuck in their tribal regions which they first settled in 200 years ago. Because of some unknowable law of stupidity, it is illegal to move from the area where your tribe first stepped foot in just 200 years ago.
it also make it so that accessing meaningful quantities of land for economic expansion is futile. So its either you work in a foreign company and buy a small plot for building a shack, or you run a business, and again buy a small plot for your house.
However, if you’re just an ordinary hohe hahe, you cannot simply move to a new area and become one of the local farmers. That means everyone is stuck around their area of origin from 200 years ago like you would find ticks concentrated on a cow’s buttocks or under the ears.
Such a situation makes bus services inherently unsustainable as most people only travel short distances from 1 or two hours. In TZ, people can travel more often as the cost of the travel can be recouped by the relative value of the journey.
