Anyway, why are you acting like Jesus was the only messianic figure to be killed by the Romans during that era? Bar Kohba, Simon of Perea, Athronges, Theudas, and Simon bar Giora were all individuals who claimed messianic authority and were either killed by the Romans or during conflicts related to their claims- straight from Google feel free to confirm.

The Sanhedrin was the main body that convened to interrogate Jesus after his arrest. It is they who accused Jesus of blasphemy for claiming to be the Messiah. They hired goons to demand his death because they viewed him as a threat to their authority.
Jesus had told them they were hypocrites - “Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You clean the outside of the cup and dish, but inside they are full of greed and self-indulgence” (Matthew 23:25).
