Thome residents protest against erection of high rise apartments

Members of Thome V Estate, under the Thome V Residents Welfare Association, led by their chairman, Daniel Kibira, protested on December 22, 2025 as they expressed grievances over alleged irregularities in the approval of a high-rise development in an area zoned for a single dwelling unit per half-acre. They outlined residents’ concerns and called for transparency, adherence to lawful planning processes, and respect for constitutional public participation requirements.

Erection ha.

We must do away with class divisions. Peasants must live together with the rich. If you live in Karen, you ought to be surrounded by cheap apartments.
if @Straw_man is wealthy, why should i be prohibited from erecting a shanty near his house?

Erection of a building refers to the actual construction phase where the building is physically put together on site.
In simple terms, it means assembling and raising the structural components of a building according to approved plans.
What it typically includes
Setting out the building on site
Laying the foundation
Constructing the structural frame (columns, beams, walls)
Raising floors and roofs
Installing major structural elements like steel frames or concrete panels
How it’s commonly used
In construction contracts, “erection” often refers to putting up structural works, especially steel or prefabricated components.
In legal or planning documents, it means the process of building, not just finishing or decoration.
Simple definition
Erection of a building = constructing and putting up a building structure on site
If you want, I can also explain how the term is used in Kenyan building regulations or in engineering vs legal contexts.
