A website in the United States that sells tickets to Kenyans living in the country was tasked with the responsibility of selling tickets for a dinner to be held in honour of Deputy President William Ruto who is on a four-day tour of the country.
According to the website, Diaspora Ke, dinner tickets were priced at Ksh25,000, Ksh30,000 and Ksh100,000 and had been on sale from February 24 and the sale closed on March 3, 2022.
During the entire period, the website indicated that it managed to sell only three tickets. The website sold a Ksh25,000 ticket and two others at a price of Ksh100,000 each.
The Ksh25,000 dinner tickets were under the Silver category while the Ksh100,000 were for the Diamond category and the Ksh50,000 were listed as Gold.
The poster was shared on DP William Ruto’s meeting with the Kenyan diaspora in 5120 Whitfield Chapel Rd, Lanham, MD 20706, in Prince George’s County of Maryland state on March 4, 2022.
According to reports, DP Ruto is scheduled to have dinner with the Kenyan diaspora at 5120 Whitfield Chapel Rd, Lanham, MD 20706, in Prince George’s County of Maryland state.
"You are invited to Dinner in Honor of His Excellency Deputy President of Kenya, Dr William Samoei Arap Ruto, EGH, who is visiting currently with us in the United States of America.
“The dinner will be held at 5120 Whitfield Chapel Rd, Lanham, MD 20706. From 8 pm -11 pm 4th March 2022. Book your table. The tickets are going for USD250, USD500, and USD1,000. Don’t Wait,” the invite read.
Meanwhile, DP Ruto on Friday, March 4, held a closed-door meeting with officials of the United States government in Washington DC.
In a statement by his communication team, the discussions - reportedly held at the White House - centered around Kenya’s relationship with the US.
Additionally, they also revolved around the state of Kenya’s democratic space ahead of the August 9 polls.
“Kenya’s Deputy President Dr William Ruto and former Vice President Musalia Mudavadi led a delegation that was hosted at the White House in Washington DC today…In a closed-door meeting, they discussed issues of strategic partnership between USA and Kenya, including sustaining Kenya’s trajectory as a Constitutional democracy,” read the statement by Hussein Mohammed, the William Samoei Ruto Presidential Campaign communications director.

Deputy President William Ruto has assured his supporters that the August 2022 General Election will be free and fair, days after making rigging claims in the US.

The DP, who is on a political tour in the UK, was speaking during an engagement with Kenyans living in the diaspora in London. Appearing to recant his earlier remarks, the DP noted that he has full confidence in the election process.
Dr Ruto, who is on tour in the United Kingdom for three days, was speaking at a United Democratic Alliance (UDA) Kenyan diaspora event at Holiday Inn Hotel in London, where he cleared the air surrounding the controversial issue of vote-rigging in the coming general election.
“If you look at me, I am not the type that anybody can steal their votes from. It is not possible,” Dr Ruto said, while responding to a question from a member of the audience.
He added: “Let me give you my word that this election will not be stolen and I have full confidence in our electoral processes.”
“The only thing they (handshake team) can do is maybe to cause violence. However, even on that, we shall not allow it to happen,” he said.
Ruto challenged his primary opponent ODM leader Raila Odinga to publicly pronounce his commitment to concede defeat should he lose the election.
He also slammed his opponents for criticizing his international outreach to ensure there is a free, fair and peaceful election.
Ruto attributed his confidence to a series of wins, in Msambweni, Juja and Kiambaa where aspirants under the UDA ticket triumphed during hotly contested by-elections. This, according to DP Ruto, demonstrates the impossibility of election manipulating an election, just months to the August polls.

Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru, and Nakuru Senator Susan Kihika are among the leaders who accompanied Deputy President William Ruto to United Kingdom.
The DP also slammed his opponents for criticizing his international tour after Odinga’s side claimed that Ruto was painting a bad image for the country in his tour in America and UK.
Ruto arrived in London on Sunday, March 6, shortly after completing his political tour in the United States.

Accompanying him are various Governors and Senators including Gov Salim Mvurya (Kwale), Gov. Josphat Nanok (Turkana), Gov Anne Waiguru (Kirinyaga), Sen Susan Kihika (Nakuru) and Sen Kipchumba Murkomen (Elgeyo Marakwet).
Ruto is later scheduled to discuss opportunities and outlook for change arising from Kenya’s upcoming general election at the Royal Institute of International Affairs in Chatham House
He is also expected to share his vision of a ‘bottom-up’ economic model for Kenya’s long term prosperity.
Ruto’s critics previously attacked him noting that his tours abroad depict an image of a dystopic country in which anarchy and graft thrive.
ODM Chairman and National Assembly Minority Leader, John Mbadi, earlier asked the DP to “stop whining” and come to terms with the shifting political tides.
“DP is setting the stage to dispute the outcome of the Presidential elections slated for August 9,” Mbadi slammed Ruto.
The DP is set to be hosted at the Royal Institute of International Affairs in Chatham House for a session on opportunities and outlook for change ahead of the forthcoming general election.
