Wewe ni mshenzi. Russia selling it’s gas in rubles. They pegged their currency based on it’s natural resources. That move made the EU to open account with Russian central bank. In order to get rubles they must go with gold for exchange of rubles.
Ask yourself why the Russian ruble is the strongest currency in Europe.

Strength of currency is self defeating. It discourages trade, if too strong or too weak.
