Mozambican President Nyusi officially opened the longest suspension bridge in Africa (Maputo-Katembe) yesterday

*Cost $785 million
*Time-frame (2014-18)
*141 metres high & 680 metres long
*Links Maputo to the Katembe district (direct link between Maputo & SA border)

Why does it have soo many curves and hips?

has it been built by chinku?

Definately!

Built by Vachina…

Didn’t they open another one earlier this year?

Another huuuuge China loan for pathetic black souls to finance.

Was it so hard to build a straight line?!

Black, mbona uliniambia nisikuwe na ku-tag kwa comments zangu?

Length - 680 metres
Cost - $785 million

Where is our favorite economist cum engineer David Ndii to break down the implications to Mozambique economy and how this project is not viable?

In other news, I just learnt that California is building a 836km railway for $77 billion. That’s sh7.7 Trillion.
Translating to over KSh9 billion per km.

China is also building its own high speed network at KSh1.8 billion a km.

Are these the figures Ndii doesn’t want us to see?

hehe…hii ni swali aina gani. Would you rather have a steep 60 degree ramp or do you meander the road so that vehicles exert less power when climbing up the bridge.

Daraja nzuri zaidi duniani ni Daraja la Kigamboni, Dar es Salaam! Na kamera ya Azam ya supa dip!

This bridge is beautifully built. It connects Kwa Zulu Natal Province SA and Mozambique. It cut down a 2 hr journey to a few minutes. Its a tolled bridge that ensures the revenue raised pays for its construction costs.
There can be no hating on this perfectly executed project. Let me congratulate all involved, Mozambique and China.

This bridge has so many great pics bit it says a lot that the one used is poor. The bridge connects one industrial district on one shore to a city in the other side. 4000 cars and trucks use it daily making it one of the most highly anticipated bridges. Its a complete success from the launch time.

Anyway here is the video.

Remember Mozambique just recently discovered some of the largest natural gas deposits in Africa. They must have the financial muscle to build this and chill
