True. Even GPS was initially available exclusively to the military before it trickled down to civilians.

Yes. And Russia being a similarly advanced country, decided it’s best to have it’s own version ahead of time (GLONASS). It’ll be interesting seeing how a man hearing about these things for the first time will fare.
