First, it was clear that the interviewees, that is Paul Malong and his son, had been given the questions beforehand.
Second, I could not believe the soft approach taken by Jeff. He wasn’t asking the right questions and the follow up questions were equally shit. Let me give you an example: he didn’t ask the old man how he afforded a house in Nyari, an affluent neighborhood, if he wasn’t wealthy. Ati the guy says there was no rape, but Jeff doesn’t have a follow up question. The guy says he wasn’t contacted, but Jeff doesn’t remind the old man that Namu’s documentary had clips of him dropping by his home twice to interview him. Then, he couldn’t ask that socialite son what he was doing in the compound if that wasn’t their home. Even the camera man would have asked these questions!
Third, CLEARLY, apart from the documentary, Jeff had not done any research. Any journalist worth his salt relies on several sources, but in this case Jeff single-handedly relied on the documentary alone! Which makes me wonder whether he was paid to rubbish the documentary. How such a shoddy interview was aired by Citizen TV is anyone’s guess. Don’t they have program editors to choose what should be aired and what should not be aired? It was a total waste of time and sadly that was my last time watching any of Jeff Koinange’s shows!
Even if media houses and journalists are paid to sanitize people, this was a very new low for Jeff and Citizen.
You see, what they are doing is wrong… Flaunting moneys meant for poor south Sudanese…
On the other hand… It’s a giid thing for kenya since there is dollar circulation…
Catch 22.
I have said previously I hate Jeff, his attitude, his mannerisms, his voice, everything. I always switch to other stations whenever he’s presenting news.
On my hate list used to that other insufferable pompous idiot called Larry Mamdomo but thankfully BBC found a better use for him.
Nilichop private high school moja that had many of these rich S.Sudanese kids. Many of them are as arrogant as that majoung guy. They’re monied and don’t care about masomo. Most of them went to America, Canada and UK for university even after kupata D planjo KCSE
same mentality prevailing between US and Saudi; seems to you that it is ok to tolerate atrocities against humanity simply because there is an opportunity to make a little mulla on the side … this is just wrong!
