The collapse of the much hyped Loft Lounge?...Weh inakaa ata photographer amejitoa ndio hawaoshi watu macho social media...Club business is no for the faint hearted

I wonder how a club like Sabina Joy has managed to operate seamlessly for over 3 decades. Club business ni tricky. Looks like Loft Lounge is on its deathbed.

Nairobi has more clubs than patrons. Customers aren’t loyal. Clubs are trendy businesses so when a cooler one pops up the former one collapses. Sabina Joy is a brothel first and a club second. It attracts Johns, not revellers.

Actually what usually happens is a pub operator sets up shop and when biz imeshika vizuri, building owner either terminates lease or waits 5 years and doesn’t renew, he then comfortably opens his own pub complete with castamas. Ata 1824 wako Kwa hio dilemna, landlord really tried to evict them during covid but walikaa ngangari

Rent is One Fixed Cost that hurts a lot of Establishments… Inafika Time a Premise is Just Operating to Cater for Expenses instead of Revenue Generation…

That club was my hunting ground for close to two years. Saa hii hapana. I think it is because of Embassy, and again Quiver upped their game. Come to think of it, last weekend nilinunua beer Loft @350 na Quiver @300. Small business decisions to attract customers matter.

Last sunday i was there usiku…place was dead as hell. Loft used to be packed even on sundays. I guess its on its desth bed.

Club owners should negotiate a longer lease…i know thats a trick that land lords use when a tenant has a good business. I know someone who does that.

SJ has the advantage of a safer location (unlike luthuli/river road) and its business model (club-cum-brothel with shot time rooms inside, all affordable), it’ll never fail to attract johns in their thousands.

Business leases are standard 5 years 3 months. Maybe lawyers can educate us if you can get longer than that

Hii ulafi huwa ya nini landlord amepata tenant who has business then decides to haribu hiyo biashara a few months later inamlemea then a new tenant/business takes that space.

Walevi si hukapitia. Your lives are so meaningless that you follow the drama of a drinking den

Nilitumia pesa mob sana kwa hiyo club. I’d marinate some interns in that pub on a Friday after work till 3am then head to my place afterwards. Saturday afternoon niko SJ kutafuta malaya nikitoa lock.

Ulevi alters one’s perception of reality. It makes one feel invincible in a way.
And when you examine closely, mlevi is usually in love with the idea of drinking and that drinking environment, not the drink itself.
Unless itoke from within, ni hard sana ku convince mlevi aachane na pombe.
