Tanzania is set to construct four large ships on Lake Tanganyika, boosting transport and trade between Tanzania and the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).
The project aims to:
Improve cross-border trade
Enhance logistics capacity on Lake Tanganyika
Facilitate greater economic integration in the region
Once completed, these ships will provide modern, reliable, and safe transport for passengers and cargo between Tanzanian ports and DR Congo.
The initiative is part of Tanzania’s broader commitment to developing blue economy infrastructure and expanding its role in regional trade networks.
