Secretive Spy Boss, James Kanyotu Alitoa Wapi Pesa Za Kununua Shamba Ya 500 Acres Ruiru

The family of the late James Kanyotu, Kenya’s longest-serving intelligence chief, has secured a major legal victory in a protracted $77 million land dispute after a Nairobi court ruled the contested 500-acre property in Ruiru, Kiambu County, remains part of his estate.

The Environment and Land Court, in a judgment delivered on July 10, declared the purported sale of the prime land as “illegal, null and void,” restoring full ownership to Kangaita Coffee Estate Ltd., where Kanyotu held a controlling stake.

Justice Oguttu Mboya barred Trendsetters Investments, Marriott Africa International, Ukombozi Holdings, and their affiliates from any further dealings with the land.

I had a 2.5m petty cash kitty, 10k a month fuel card and a 300k limit credit card when I was an office waka. Sijui kama unanipata brathe?

Kanyotu was one of Goldenberg directors.

Vanity…

It is rumored that the guy owned several parcels of prime land across the country, some of which he never even got to see with his own eyes.

Should sum up how he got to own them.

The problem with large land-holdings in a shithole country is that the value exists only on paper. Hard to generate cash flow unless you invest heavily on the land (meaning real estate projects - Centum, Tatu, Tilisi etc). The capital required to do so is too much even for robber barons in gov’t because spending billions to build houses and apartments you’re not sure will ever sell is FOOLISH.

Back to my original point, it’s more impactful to have cash-flow generating businesses. I respect industry titans like that Magunas guy. Straight up billions in cash flow. No land is gonna produce those numbers, ever. You’d be an idiot to buy land expecting riches. There’s too many land-poor people in Kenya and people don’t seem to learn.

Unless you’re doing farming, there’s no way to generate serious cash flow from land. You’ll make a few millions from apartments and hotels but that pales in comparison to the tens of millions you would make from running a proper business.

You’re so wrong. None other than Ruto himself, not the Kanyotu family, have a controlling stake in Kangaita.

Slush funds are real in govt offices. Hata kwa private sector nilikuwa na credit card ya ofisi though ilikuwa na scrutiny of expenses kuliko ya gava. Najua msee amefanya kazi kwa mahindi all his life hawezi relate.

Hii ndio shida ya 8-4-4. What is wrong with kuamkia marikiti hata kama uko mafutani? It is not like the whole amount was mine ni vile tuu I was entrusted to manage it na hivyo ndio nikaingiza wakandism Kenya style. Wakichota pia mimi nachota. Most of this privileged positions are transient juu kila mtu anataka mtu wake kwenye kuna mafuta. One minute you are swimming in money and privileges the next minute umetumwa kwa a new department that is bone dry. Usipojipanga shauri yako.

I don’t think he bought the land to generate cash. He did it to park his stolen billions.

I know that. I’m just appalled that idiots like this guy would rather park billions to recover 20 years later when they can use those billions to make hundreds of millions from day one.
