There are lesser-known and far better candidates than these two.

The smart amongst us understand the futility of voting. Voting is just a way for the establishment to convince dumb people that their votes matter. Because no matter whom you vote for, the government gets elected. The government is the problem.

Engaging in internet flame wars over politics is a costly investment with no reward.

You live a certain number of years, and you realize that politicians don’t care about the voters. They care about their political brokers, a.k.a their key supporters – the people with the money and influence to sponsor their elections. Once in a while you get a genuinely diligent politician, but shortly thereafter there is an accident.

If you were born with a certain amount of intelligence, you’ll quickly realize that voting also confers no rewards. It is a labourious exercise that accomplishes nothing. There’s not a chance your single vote will have the slightest effect on presidential or even gubernatorial elections.

Every citizen has an obligation to engage in elective politics. We got Kibaki because individual voters turned out in large numbers to elect him. Imagine what would have happened had we voted for Ûhuru disaster in 2002, after the chaotic Moi regime?!
