Cheated of millions of rands by her promoters, infected HIV by her partner and introduced to hard drugs by friends, Brenda saw it all before dying at a tender age of 40 years. Eventually SA has honored her with a life size sculpture at the heart of Johannesburg.
Her bold stage antics earned a reputation for “outrageousness” ironically, her Xhosa middle name, Nokuzola, means “quiet”, “calm”, or “peace”.

I attended her show at Mamba Disco, and got an her Original CD.
When she was hospitalized I really prayed for a miracle.
I was crushed when Beatrice Marshall, then at KTN announced her death on a Sunday, 9Oclock news. I have never forgotten

The post-mortem report revealed that Fassie had taken an overdose of cocaine on the night of her collapse, and this was the cause of her coma. She stopped breathing and suffered brain damage from lack of oxygen.
They are the only ones who make a lifelong fame and ‘impact’. Other achievers don’t view themselves as brands, and their names fizzle out from memory as soon as the limelight is off them.
