Relocation to US: Pros and Cons?

An not a Kisii. mimi ni Kikuyu. Thou i know several Kisii’s huko. Pale Dallas na Calif

Maybe passport ingine and having a plan B. Last year was really hit sana job wise due to politics.

Yap. going legally.

Hapo ni kweli kabisa!

I have been there minus wife, but it was not to intresting coz of the distance. So i would love if we went together.

Most of those Nigerians study because that is the only way they can leave there legally. SInce they dont have the papers. I know of guys who have Many papers like Mugabe just to that they can leave in the US. They become professional students. Studying just to be in the US since they have not gotten a Mzungu to marry.

And most are related…And the kids later invited their parents who are now running daycares etc…hata church ni kikisii…you can’t be homesick

If you don’t have a job(s) waiting for you there, you are in for a rude shock.

If you don’t go you might forever regret having lost a great “chance”

mimi si mkisii but I have knowledge of the language since we stayed there till i was 4. so naeza enda mimi??

I disagree that most are in school just so they can live there. Kama hauna papers it’s cheaper to pay someone for them to give u papers than paying for college. There’s no way you can afford to pay for a masters degree na hustle za kawaida.

You used the right word… seems. The grass always seems greener on the other side.

May I also remind you about the high cost of living in some cities. It could be something north of $ 2,000 to live in a one-bedroom apartment in a simple neighborhood.
Add to that expenses such as paying for trash, internet and cable, taxes, health premiums and other deductions and you realize that a monthly salary of $ 5,000 might not be enough if you are the kind that has to ball every weekend.

My take is you can’t be on both sides. You may have to leave your investments with an agent to collect the rents since it is difficult to keep coming back as you wish if you get a stable job. Also is you relocate , think of it as relocating to give your kid a better education or life. Also the older you get, the more difficult it is to start out. Job choices are difficult for 50 year olds than for 20 year olds. Its easy for a 20 year old to get a job in his field, it’s very difficult for a 50 year old. It will take you a minimum 3 - 5 years to settle down with hard work that is get a car, house and not have to work 60 hours a week to make rent payments.

So true. Some states, studio apartment ni $3,000 and above!!

When we relocate, i will not have to worry about rent and a car for an year coz i got that sorted in 2 states ( whichever i chose to move to). For investments and rent, i can have that sorted too huku in Kenya. The thing is, the thought of relocating has never crossed my mind. So most things i am clueless. @Purple saidia since uko huko.

Regret not so much. Coz am not desperate. Thou i understand that this are once in a lifetime choices and opportunities. Hence the quagmire that i am in.

Am a real estate agent, you can leave the management of your houses to me at a commission of course.

Wow!!!
this is is so insipiring. can a diploma in nursing earned there guarantee me some good stable income? what about studying plumbing and electrical craftmanship? is it also lucrative? what does one have to study in an American college in order to get a well paying job?

Thanks @Purple . Very encouraging. Will inbox you later if its ok with you. I need a perspective of someone who is there.

Thanks for the offer. Thou got an agent at the moment.

I don’t think it’s rosy. ungesema Australia ama Dubai ningeelewa.
