Here is a case of a place where people can thank the Almighty for devolution. Turkana county is one of the counties which for years has had the lowest health indicators. When it came into power three years ago, the Turkana County Government made a deliberate decision to give the health sector the biggest share of money from its budget. The result is a revamped sector that has well equipped health facilities and improved service delivery to the people.
Ok…this devolution can be a game changer if we have sober leaders.
Yes they have done well but don’t discount the support Tullow has given to them the last few years. Mandera, Wajir, Garissa, Isiolo, Marsabit northern kenya counties have also done better with devolution funds than bigger, richer counties.
hio ni yako.
I always tell guyz who grew up and still reside in Nairobi and its neighboring counties to travel to far-flung counties and see for themselves, devolution is not all doom and gloom… Most of those that are complaining come from counties that have enjoyed the patronage of the central government at one point or the other since independence
Sawa, yangu na Tullow, I’m also angling for the oil.
There is still corruption but at least there is effort to improve the county.

corruption would still have been there in the case of a purely centralized government and any little development would only have been felt in the “politically correct” regions.
Some governors are given too much limelight yet there are others doing much more quietly.
brown envelopes my friend
True.
and pure laziness, leaving the comfort of nairobi to go bring good news isn’t important. If there was friction or bad news at the border they will be there in a flash.
I see you dolts bought this propaganda in its entirety. The health sector in Turkana is financed in (small) part by the government and in (very large) part by the catholic church through the Diocese of Lodwar and a shitload of charities and organizations including Merlin and the International Rescue Committee.
Those government fuckers aren’t satisfied with dealing in black market minerals and fossils, they have to steal healthcare money and bribe a journalist to carry thinly-veiled lies in form of a news feature.
This is the MOTHERFUCKING fuckery that disappoints me about this place!
a brand new health center at Merti does not sell newspapers as well as a dildo story, or a non-scandal about a bar of soap worth 37k…or even a babuon headline…
Devolution is a fantastic idea although we overdid it with 47 counties. But our biggest blunder was raiding the president’s privileges and powers. We neutralized the presidency and still expect him to do magic!
Allow me to piss you even more…the County government first move was to acquire 4 * 4 vehicles including the PAs and buying property in Karen, Nairobi not to
mention that most of the fools in the county government were people who worked for NGOs and they clearly know what ails the county.
Most of what you see in that county as you have rightly put it has been done by the many NGOs in that area…
Seen this on Tv .I like it
I hope those idiots won’t be buying new 4x4s after every 5 years or regime change
heheee one of the CS huko is a close buddy. worked with every NGO yu (see what I did there) can conjure uo, a Ford scholar; he fits your description
Kudos to Turkana Govt and NTV. But a word of advice to NTV, - for us to fully believe the statements you should have interviewed the pĂ tients and lower cadre staff.
