While delivering a lecture at Cambridge University last week, He urged African countries experiencing political turmoil to emulate Kenya in seeking lasting peace. He also said “solutions for Africa’s problems can only come from the continent itself”. It appears Raila is looking at issues that go way beyond his personal gain.
During the lecture he revealed that the famous handshake came about in recognition that a political stalemate will not provide the way forward, to address the real issues afflicting the country.
He further stated, the main issues that require tackling are;

[li]Corruption[/li][li]Marginalisation[/li][li]Insecurity[/li][li]Electoral injustices[/li][li]Lack of national ethos[/li][li]A weak devolution setup[/li][/ul]
Raila is spot on the number 1 issue; deal with it and the rest diminish significantly, corruption is the main catalyst. Kenya is at an advanced stage of corruption rather than an advanced stage in development, most of the continent faces the same predicament.
True peace with corruption is a mirage. Upon his return from the overseas visit, let him take a frontline against corruption and champion it across the continent.
If the opposition leaders and government leaders shake hands on the war against corruption, the decades old corruptor brigade will have no skirt to hide under.
Let us hope that in due time the African Union will sign a treaty against corruption of the continents resources.
TMT is a true African…he knows what is right but opts to do the opposite since the opposite guarantees him a palatial home, full bank accounts, big cars and access to kungurus…
