Franklin Boukaka’s Africa Liberte and Franco’s Likambo ya Ngana always strike me as very sad songs, just from the tone.
Hiyo ya Boukaka reminds me of the late 1980s, KBC/VOK weekly news roundup program that was called DUNIA WIKI HII
The news back then was about Vita za Iran na Iraq
I recall that vividly. Dunia Wiki Hii was always about “Kalasinga wenye siasa kali”, Gorbachev, Operation Desert Storm, the Balkans War and such. Only time news was enjoyable to watch.
Then later around 1990/1991 story was Vita vya Ghuba. when NATO struck Saddam while rying to liberate Kuwait
