In the old days technology used to stagnate and fully penetrate into the society. Remember Radio Cassette players lasted the entire 1980s even though in Europe and Sodom CDs were available albeit sparingly.

Enter the 1990s and CDs started getting into the African homes and the famous SONY Walkman was replaced by DiscMan,

then even before Dissman gained popularity is was replaced with MP3 Players and iPods.

Fastfoward to 2000s and the market was saturated with Phones that had expandable memory and could carry 100s of songs.

These ones killed the iPod. Then in 2006/2007 Smartphones with touchscreens and 3G connectivity hit the market and you no longer had to store the music on the device. You can get any song on the move, audio or video.
