Mercy Wanza was born the year her mother and father lost touch, and none of them knew each other’s home
Years later, Wanza stumbled upon the letters from her father, Charles Oyaro Areba, had sent to her mother alongside some of his pictures
While others may return to their children years later, some children take the opportunity to look for their parents or other family members.
A woman has taken to social media to appeal for help to locate her biological father, whom she has never interacted with.
Mercy Wanza says she has never seen her father, Charles Oyaro Areba, who parted ways with her mother after she was born.
“My mother used to work at her cousin’s place. When my father finished school and went to the University of Nairobi (UoN), Kabete Campus, he lost touch with my mother.
They used to communicate through letters. They lost touch, and no one knew the other’s home.
That was in 1991 when I was born,” she said
She added that her father used to send her mother money for upkeep, showing his care for the family, refusing to say he abandoned them.
"Growing up with a single mum has been difficult, especially in my educational journey. My mum was never financially stable, so caring for me and my brother was challenging. All the burden for paying our school fees and shopping was on her shoulders. She also did not get support from her family.
