Wadau, my daughter has been placed by kuccps to study civil engineering in TUK, Sasa the fees that was on the portal is 330k/year,…the govt says this time round you apply for funding, alafu helb wakukopeshe kidogo and I as the parent have to also contribute, they are based on percentage…now how shall the govt decide the percentage to provide as funding in the vulnerable, needy, less needy cases, what metrics shall be used

University degrees are trash saa hii in Kenya. They are not even worth the paper they are printed on, case in point; there are over 20,000 graduates roaming around unemployed kama @Jimit and more than 50,000 underemployed kama akina @Gaines . Let her learn technical skills kama software engineering, machine learning, electrical works ama ata plumbing instead of you burning through 3M+ plus na bado hakuna kazi ya maana atapata at the end of 5 years. The Chinese are busy building our roads na unaexpect atapata kazi gani after 5 years of Civil eng? Kama sio medicine ama nursing (any health-related course) it’s not even worth it.

I don’t think that model can work in Kenya. Kama ata helb ya 200K watu wanashindwa kulipa or pay for decades what about a loan of 2 or 3M? Wataenda loss ingine kubwa not unless they are also willing to provide formal jobs to the graduates at the end of 5 years of learning.
