Gen Z hawawezi relate: the joy of going to a cyber, picking 20 of your favorite songs from their hard drive, and burning them on one CD. For 200-bob only. (Then 100/-. Then 50/-)

They wouldn’t understand writing song and artist names from Channel O, The Beat and MTV Base and going to the cyber guy for him to figure out where to find ‘Air Raid’ by Limp Bizkit.. not to be confused with Linkin’ Park.

And I’m not paying otherwise.

CD-RW was like magic back then. A re-writable cd

Only surpassed by DVD-RW, widely considered a mark of quality from SONY..

not to be confused with SQNY.

Cybers used to charge even to burn random data on a cd yet you could download these free burning software to overwrite that cyber software that locked cd tray

I remember I has a rewritable disk my friend “lost” I think I still hold that grudge, some other great software were bearshare and kazaa

Hehe, who ripped CDs using JetAudio here? That player was something else.

Winamp 2.0 and even Windows Media Player 6 could do it.

Of all these VLC still stands tall, I do stream quality music from the online radios.

VLC and Media Player Classic now replaced by RadioGarden and YT music.

I still use winamp very actively. The equalizer and fade is still legendary…

The custom visualisers are still great to this day.. though seeing the stretched ‘now playing’ music bar makes me think of hardcore outlaws and pirates.
