Myths About Ugali, Rice & Wheat

India they have something like ugali they put salt. Nimesahau jina. But it wasn’t that bad. I ate it a few times.

How does ugali become tasteless buana? How does food you have eaten the whole of your life become tasteless in a matter of months just because you are in a foreign country?? Hapo umetudanganya kidogo lakini ni sawa.

Hizi mahindi GMO flavor hakuna. The same goes for meat, eggs, fruits and vegetables.

I will try it out just out of curiosity tho we have many other UG substitutes in Europe like polenta, semolina, gari…name it.

Ugali ya white kupata hapa ni shida. What’s available is the yellow one. Too Sweet to be eaten as the real Ugali. So unaboeka nayo. However I do eat cornflakes almost daily.

I thought they are kenyans who import white flour to the US. Nikiwa tu online I bumped into a facebook page that would import kenyan food to the US i.e maize flour, omena, kunde etc.

Ugali ya hizo restaurants inakaa uji thick imepoeshwa, not really the Kenyan ugali yenye mama mzazi anaeza kupikia. They do so because they cater to different clientele and not Kenyans only

Regular unga is widely available. Hakuna haja ya kuexport unga uko. I never one day ate ugali made of sweet corn. You need to tembea hapo Seattle. If you can’t find it stocked at Walmart, look at the 2nd tier stores. This is the first time I ever heard someone using sweet corn ( auntie Jemima) to cook ugali.

Regular flour is widely available. In fact, Hispanic communities use it to make corn tortillas. Ni Kama chapati made from unga ya mahindi.

STAY AWAY from oats if you hope to lose any weight. They are a mass gainer.

Adapt and survive. The samolina makes good ugali, but you’ll be disappointed if you let the water boil and pour in all the flour you need at once-it won’t mix smoothly, it’ll dry fast and you get a lumpy mess. The trick is to continously pour a light trickle of flour into boiling water, as though making porridge, stirring (NB: round and round) all the time until it thickens. Then, and only then, can you cook it as ugali. It’s light and fast, but great with a stew of yo choice:D
