Mwalimu Njenga: The IPps scam

IPPS REPRESENT A CRUEL SCHEME TO DE-INDUSTRIALISE OUR COUNTRY AND TURN IT INTO AN IMPORT DEPENDENT WAREHOUSE ECONOMY.
THREAD…
When Independent Power Producers (IPPs) were introduced in Kenya in the late 90s and early 2000s, the phrase “better expensive power than no power was used”.

That time we had the La Niña weather pattern which caused a drought following the El Niño in 1997/98. That time, almost all of our power came from hydros.
The load shedding & the blackouts the country was facing made many people desperate. We embraced the Emergency Power Producers believing it was a temporary solution to our power woes. EPPs later gave way to IPPs. More than 20 years later, we are still under their captivity.
There is this lie being sold that IPPs exist because the government has no resources to finance @KenGenKenya to generate all the power that we need.

This ensures our industrialisation dreams remain just that; dreams. We therefore become a good export market for the Western countries and their DFIs who are behind this expensive power.
Now they have even introduced Independent Power Transmitters yet @KETRACO1 was established for that purpose. Soon we will have independent water producers.
Our corrupt and incompetent public officials are unable to see this tragedy for what it really is.
They are even happily defending the same. Meanwhile, our youths remain jobless. Our shilling is depreciating steeply because we are importing too many things.
Our fight for cheaper power should be relentless. We mu

The only person who can save Kenya is a Kagame like character !! Hio story ya IPPS huni umma knowing we can have affordable power if it wasn’t for a few characters
