You know the hardest part of raising a child isn’t the money they demand, it’s the time. Money you can get back, time never. I think men really don’t understand what the day to day raising a child entails bcz even the married ones are spectators and they leave all the work to their wives. But if situation is reversed the woman pays you and leaves you to raise your kids while she is free, is when you will know that raising children day to day is not a joke. That’s when you will respect the labor of love women put into raising kids and why kids love their moms so much.
Please let us put domestic labor as an intangible expense. The men who are single dads who raise their children actually shift the responsibility to female members of their family such as sisters and their moms. It’s near impossible to find a man actually raising kids apart from providing money. The actual child rearing is done by women even primary school, kindergarten teachers are almost all women.
So you can not claim 50 50 when one person does all of the child rearing. It will make more sense if the man gets the kids half the time. Like 6 months in a year the mom is free. Then we can fairly speak of 50 50 but we all know even when there’s joint custody, the mom always is the best parent and kids actually suffer when they go live with their dads bcz men do not know how to take care of a child bcz it’s not in their nature or their socialization. Other men simply take kids to boarding effectively shifting their responsibility of rearing their kids to school administrators.
Let us ADRESS the issue of child care as a key input not just a btw.
