There is no point painting a Picasso and then hiding it under in the dark room. For a while now, the Ministry of Education has worked hard - in collaboration with the Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development - to create a new skills-based curriculum to be adopted by the nation going forward.
Problem is, once they finished formulating this new, shiny curriculum, they did not embark on a media campaign to sensitize the parents, teachers and other stakeholders on when, why and what!? Come January 2nd 2018, not many people were sure of what to expect. Heck, even the teachers who were expected to deliver the content appeared to be lost!
Inevitably, this spanking, new baby was sent back to the incubator. Hapo Superman Matiang’i ali-feli!!
Someone else has also highlighted kuna Kenya University and Colleges Central Placement Services (KUCCPS) na Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET) and the deadline ni kesho kutwa. Not once have I seen an advert from the MOE advising students on what opportunities are out there!!
