Three months ago I told a ktalk friend of mine that our mutual friend is no more. He was so shocked and when I told him that the guy committed suicide he said that statistics show that men commit suicide more than women. I had to google since It was the first time I was hearing about that statistic. But the biggest problem is that men suffer in silence. You see a man laughing with you today but tomorrow he’s no more. Men have been taught/ cultured not to show signs of depression. Kujikaza kisabuni. But it’s good to be your brothers keeper.
I think it is the stigma of mental health that prevents a lot of people from seeking help. Both men and women. In Kenya for example, someone tells you they just came from Mathare to see a doc, next thing around the hood will be, "huyo amechizi ". As opposed to going to see the doc for any other ailment.
mimi siamini mwanaume anafaa kukuwa depressed…kwanini unaitwa mwanaume?nilisema next time mwanaume anasema ako depressed namwambia atoe oruanyo tuone nini iko katikati ya miguu
with uncorrupted masculinity and will you can fight depression…mimi sikuskia hii kitu enzi za mababa zetu…ni htu tumtu tunyonge twenye tunaambiwa “it is ok to cry boy” ndio wanatuangusha
Men keep problems to themselves. They aren’t willing to be ridiculed by those who believe that men shouldn’t express their issues. The issues pile up until they can’t take it no more - hanging the boots.
Acha chocha. Its Clear you dont have the slightest clue of what depression is.Io ujinga ya kujipiga kifua ndio humaliza watu.Depression can take you to a state of total mental illness
