One day I was having a chat with a buddy who was a former driver of the defunct Tawfiq and I asked him what is wrong with that Manyani area. His explanation…“many drivers, out of greed want to rush to Nairobi, deliver cargo and turn back immediately and head back to Coast, to save their mileage, and also get another trip faster. What happens is that on the return trip, the fatigue becomes unbearable on the drivers around that Manyani area. Many accidents are usually caused by lorries coming to coast”…true to word, on day while travelling to Nairobi, having left Mombasa at 5, my bro and I were forced off the road and into the bush at the same manyani by a trailer. The saddest part is that we could see the guy slumped on the wheel whilst the lorry was zigzagging on the road. Hope he made it safe.
