Madam first lady

mbona uhuru hana wedding ring?

There are plenty of wahindi who have been in Kenya less than 15 years and can speak Kiswahili very well.
It depends on how the speaker feels about the people he/she is communicating with. If he/she thinks the listeners are of no importance then he/she won’t bother to communicate effectively. Elitism at its finest. Attitude is the problem. Sad

Yes elitism is arrogance my friend.

lanes my friend,lanes

True…people judge me alot bc I don’t know how to speak kyuk … Atleast i can write and hear. No one taught me kyuk. No one spoke kyuk in our home… I only got to learn to speak kyuk recently na ni juu I’m spending time with my shosh… But she speaks much swahili and little English. I have to tell her to speak kyuk so that I can be good in pronunciation

I couldn’t speak Kikuyu when I was finishing highschool because of being raised in Nairobi and never going to boarding school. But I made it my business to learn the language. I use 4 skills of learning a language. I speak it. I listen to others speak it. I write it. And then I read Kikuyu text.
You can do it too if you really want.

I’m trying…

I’m rooting for you to succeed. You’ll be a modern lady who can still connect with her roots.
