I’m a Kikuyu and I’m 100% honest when I say that most Kikuyu-owned hotels are shit. The food is pathetic and the greedy bastards keep trying to cut corners to maximize profits. Chapatis get thinner and smaller, samosas are filled with onions instead of meat, portions get smaller, they buy smaller chickens etc. Most Kikuyu-owned restaurants follow that life-cycle. They start off well and then two months later they begin to cut corners to maximize profits. I also don’t like Somali-owned restaurants because of hygiene issues. I personally think Luhyas are the best hotel owners because they hardly cut corners.

Tamu saidi. Gathufu muhimu

Luhyas can be trusted not to cut corners on matters food.

That is the way fish should be cooked, not cooking it in transformer oil. It is how experts do it.

.

I loved my boiled fish from a guy called Owino. Hio fis hua tamu zaidi and by 2pm it’s over if you had not called to reserve

Coast guys are the best hotel owners. Very delicious food and variety is wide with affordable prices. Okuyu wetu ni useless kwa mikahawa

Wapi hapo?

Hapo ni ukweli. Coast people are also decent cooks and they offer great value for money.

Going to Kimani’s hotel or Njeri’s kitchen guarantees that you will get a samosa filled with vegetables or meat from questionable sources.

The best hotel:

  • The manager is Kiuk/Kamba/Luo
  • The cooks are mijikenda/taita/maasai - avoid Giriamas, they are dirty as hell
  • The owner is Indian/Kikuyu/Meru/Borana
  • The cleaners are Luo

SO KIKUYU IS A GOOD MANAGER?
