There is something called HOPE. we all work hard hoping for a better future. The people living in the slums hope that one day they will afford a self-contained house in a place like umoja. Those in umoja and zimmerman hope that they can afford paying rent in a cleaner, safer and organized neighborhood, or even build their own houses. Nairobi watu wengi wanavumilia.

Shaurimoyo and Umoja are different places. You cannot even compare them to each other
I think what should be happening right now is what Purple was suggesting up there. For starters we should close all those bars in or adjascent to residential structures right now kama ni shaurimoyo ama ni umo. Hata watu wa shaurimoyo wako na mabinti pia.

do children drink in those pubs?
May be not. But if the first thing a drunk sees on stepping outside the pub on a jolly sato afternoon is my form 2 daughter doing the laundry outside?

This is the main cause of poverty in developing nations. Once people with low income start breeding like rats, their chances of escaping poverty diminish exponentially. I know that some people might argue of a person or two who escaped from poverty despite having a large family in the slums, but such people are very few. If you are poor and start having kids, it is just a way of cementing your poverty.

Word. Na masonko wanaendelea tu kunawiri na wako na watoi aachache sana. (UK? only 3?. Err…wale official)
These guys who live with young families in fucked up eastlando shitholes like Umo, what hell are you thinking? How do you bring up kids in a neighborhood with a bar at the ground floor of almost every apartment block. Usiku kuna thugs masquerading as hoes on very street corner - hao malaya waliibia a friend gari juzi tu. On weekends you’re always bumping into drunks zigzagging through the streets. Kids have nowhere to play. The air smells like an unending fart. Will you be shocked when you see your daughter photographed with an ugly, skinny boy’s hand jammed into her panty? Ati sasa wao ni mamodel, sijui urban-photography? You’re practically grooming your kids to be drunks, hoes and thugs! Hii Nairobi, if you’re a family man and you aren’t pulling at-least 150k, ma fren! This city is not your home…
Ati watu wa kulipia gali parking usiku ! Bure kapsaa
Lakini my friends lazima kuwe na watu wakulipa manyumba end months !
