Excitement continue to build as SGR nears completion. CS Macharia confirm yesterday that its 99% complete and all that remains are completion of passenger stations and a few civil works.

As usual the guys there are annoyed by the false information on our SGR.

"To be honest, I am actually amazed that the posters here are surprised at all the bashing of the SGR. Unlike you all, the Kenyan populace is by far and large ignorant and/or incapable of truly appreciating the full scope of the SGR project…

  1. David Ndii is a former World Bank or IMF (Can’t remember which one) economist who has turned into one of the most prominent critics of the current govt’s spending. Whether this is due to his own valid (if totally misguided and unfounded) concerns of where the country is heading or whether he is being sponsored by unscrupulous individuals to spew all his nonsense does not matter. Remember, this is the fool who was critical that the govt. went ahead and built the SGR rather than dualling the already present meter gauge rail system, among other ridiculous concerns.

  2. It is election season in Kenya (when is it really not election season), and the political opposition are doing all that they can to gain political mileage from this project - as seen by the likes of Mudavadi and co. calling this a “white elephant”. Given the political worship and boot-licking that Kenyans have to their chosen “leaders” did y’all really expect the populace to fact check the BULL that they are spewing?? As DAKTA said, the vast majority do not have any comprehensive understanding as it pertains to the financial and technical aspects of railway systems, so expect them to score jabs via social media just so they can jump on the SGR BASHING gravy train (PUN FULLY INTENDED)

The govt. plans to introduce free train rides in June, 2017 so as to introduce the populace to the world of more efficient long distance rail travel. Hopefully that will help alleviate some of the concerns.

The bottom line is that the bashing and mockery of this project will go on until the project is fully operational and proving the doubters wrong. Even then, I fear that there will be some nyangau’s making noise that it was not worth it, despite the contrary."

SUPERPOWER

Tuta comment after elections

The case of the SGR project and the politics of the mega figures that are therefore involved is like the case whereby an illiterate or, more aptly, an ignorant boss dispatches a servant to acquire the best car in the market for the boss. After much consideration and deliberation, according to his knowledge of his boss’ tastes, likes and requirements, the servant goes for the Mini Cooper, an exceptionally expensive car compared to her peers, knowing too well that his choice will elate the boss. After all, the boss had asked for the best car in the market! But even before the car has been delivered, all manner of friends are castigating the servant before his boss, for buying him the car at an exorbitant price while a Toyota Vitz, a car of same size, would have gone for a fraction of the Mini Cooper’s price!

Detractors will always find negative things to say, but that is no reason to stop striving and join them in their defeated, visionless whining.

The story of Noah and his ark comes to mind.

150b vs 50b respectively. F*ck logic.

Here we go again social media experts in everything and a master of none.

The one above is our Kenyan SGR freight train and the one below is a bullet passenger train. Well the bullet passenger train truck only allows for passenger trains because it’s made for speed. Cargo trains are recommended not to exceed 120km. Bullet train trucks must be fenced off both sides to avoid any intrusion to the fast paced passenger trains and it’s expensive to build. So basically the one below might look good but is more expensive and would only have carried people from coast to Nairobi competing with buses and planes. All cargo would still be on the road!!! Looks over function. No wonder the experts and engineers at skyscraper can’t stand our social media sites which lacks facts or any form of technical knowledge to contribute positively to a debate. It’s like comparing a Toyota Prius vs Toyota Noah. Yes both are cars but why would you pick a Prius and your needs are constantly picking your family of 5 and still need a big boot for goods.

From my vantage point, it looks like you’re the one that should be providing those figures and facts instead of catching feelings and trying to fell a sequoia with a kitchen knife. @spear always rattles off facts and figures, but the readers are just too lazy to absorb them.

Here is the video presentation of the SGR second phase from Nairobi-Ngong-Mai Mahiu-Naivasha-Narok-Bomet-Kisumu-Bondo-Malaba. I’m sure the people will be excited to welcome this development to the region. It has some stunning renders of Kisumu Rail Port and stations.
