The Ministry of Water announced Wednesday it will be undertaking sewerage system installations around the country to improve sanitation, a concern that has been blamed for the frequent cholera outbreaks.

Water Secretary Eugene Wamalwa together with water boards from the various regions signed a financing agreement for the Kenya towns sustainable water supply and sanitation programme with ADB on Wednesday.

"I am very pleased to announce that about 28 towns, around the country that have never had their towns on the system have been earmarked to benefit from a sewerage installation programme funded by ADB (African Development Bank),” the CS said.

The programme will receive Sh45billion from the bank to increase sewerage services. An additional Sh6.1billion into the project will be provided by the government.

Some of the towns that will benefit from the project include Mandare, Marsabit, Limuru, Kiambu, Kikuyu, Gatundu, Kerugoya, Chuka, Chogoria, Meru, Machakos, Mwala and Pemba.

Others are Mbuini, Changamwe, Mombasa, Ol Kalou, Kipkaren, Narok, Chepareria, Kapenguria, Ugunja, Ukwala, Oyugis, Kendu Bay, Kilgoris, Lolgorian, Nandi Hills, Mlot, Bomet, Malaba, Kiptogot, Kolongoro and Eldoret.

The project is expected to start this month and complete by June 2021. Regional Water Services will lead implementation.

This is a good idea but I hope they will also invest in sewage treatment plants so that the toxic effluent is not released into water bodies.

@spear…nisamehe I am not trying to detail your thread a quick one where can I get information about minimum wages in Kenya?

Yes. A sewage system must have a treatment plant or its useless.

I don’t mind.

Try this.
